My husband and I moved from the Lower Mainland to the beautiful Harbour City of Nanaimo in 1995. Shortly after, I began dabbling in web design hoping that a family homepage might make staying in touch with friends and family across Canada a little easier.
Well, this hobby has since become a passion.
In September 2005, when the youngest of my two children was at school full time, I took the opportunity to also go back to school full time. I completed and thoroughly enjoyed the two year Internet Production (iPro) diploma program offered through Vancouver Island University.
Part of the curriculum was a class contest to create a working mock-up website for the University's Media Studies Department. The "winner" would receive the opportunity to actually build the Media Studies website. Well, my partner and I won this opportunity and I headed up a group of three students who designed and built the Department's website utilizing PHP and a MYSQL database.
I work from home with very little overhead thus enabling me to keep my fees low. I do try to work while my children are at school, but sometimes it's difficult putting aside what you love to do!!
